I am a retired missionary of the Church of the Nazarene. In years gone by I had the privilege of doing missionary deputation services in hundreds of Nazarene churches across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Some of you old timers may remember being in those exciting missionary services. I was the missionary who ran down the aisle of your sanctuary dressed as a witch doctor, scaring some of your children. You may remember me as one of the missionary speakers at the 1964 General Assembly in Portland, Oregon.
At that time my wife Genevieve and I were the missionaries assigned to open a new work with the Aguaruna Indians in the Amazon rain forest in Peru, South America. BEYOND THE CALL tells the story of the insurmountable challenges our family faced to take the Gospel to that tribe of aboriginal Indians who had never seen a Bible, had never heard the name of Jesus and didn’t even have a word for God in their language.
